The Master of Arts in Teaching leads to initial teacher certification in the following content fields: art, biblical studies, biology, chemistry, economics, English, French, German, history, mathematics, middle grades (language arts, mathematics, science, social studies), music, physics, political science, Spanish, theater. Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
The MAT has been approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. Graduates are elibible for initial certification through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission for the above mentioned fields with the exception of biblical studies. All graduates are eligible for certification through the Association of Christian Schools International.
The MAT is an eleven month program beginning in June and concluding the following May. Classes during the summer term meet during the day, while fall and spring classes are in the late afternoon/evening along with extensive clinical practice in area classrooms.
